We had a little celebration here last week.
The Batsman achieved something which to the average punter might seem small but in the world of the autism spectrum was HUGE.
For the first time ever he invited another child, a kinder friend, to come along to his little brother’s 3rd birthday party at our home. It was completely unprompted, a little bit magical and it stopped me in my tracks and brought tears to my eyes.
It was certainly one of those moments to be treasured.
And it got me thinking.
As people who love someone with autism, we are often confronted by huge highs and low lows. We may struggle with the stuff which is hard and rejoice in the simplest and purest of victories. Those little wins are often the ones that can get you through the next rough patch.
So, in my present smiley frame of mind, I would love to know, what are you celebrating this week? Big, little, major or otherwise. Let’s have a little bit of happy together.
PS: The party, with the extra invited guest, was a great success.
